Senior Partner

Jay Remis is the Founder and President of Madison Place Partners. A financial services industry veteran with over 25 years of experience, Mr. Remis has held a variety of senior management roles at GE Capital, Bear Stearns and Lone Star Funds. His experience spans transactional, operational, and strategic settings. As a principal responsible for buying companies for Bear Stearns, Lone Star and ContiFinancial, Mr. Remis led numerous M&A transactions and has had oversight responsibility for multiple business units.

As a Managing Director and Partner at Lone Star Funds, one of the leading private equity funds, Mr. Remis had responsibility for their U.S. financial services investments. He led the acquisition and integration of CIT's $10 billion home lending portfolio and servicing platform and developed and executed the asset management strategy for this investment.

As Senior Managing Director of the Corporate Strategy Group at Bear Stearns, Mr. Remis was responsible for the firm's mergers and acquisitions. During his tenure, he completed transactions for the Asset Management, Fixed Income, Equities and Derivatives Departments and worked closely with leaders of these business units to mitigate risk and drive profitability.

As Managing Director at ContiFinancial Corporation, Mr. Remis led numerous M&A and securitization transactions and oversaw warehouse lending and residual financing activities.

Prior to working in finance, he was in the private practice of law specializing in corporate and securities law. As an attorney, Mr. Remis served as underwriter's counsel in dozens of IPOs and secondary capital market transactions, where he became well versed at indentifying and disclosing risks involving companies in multiple industries.

Mr. Remis has a B.A. from The Johns Hopkins University and a J.D. from the University of Chicago Law School.

 
 

Vice President

Michael Hutchby has worked in the Financial Institutions Group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch and has been a financial consultant with roughly 10 years of experience focusing on the financial, real estate, energy and technology sectors.

At Bank of America Merrill Lynch, Mr. Hutchby worked as an Investment Banker in the Financial Institutions Group (FIG) concentrating on the Banking, Insurance, Asset Management and Financial Technology sectors. Before joining the FIG group, Mr. Hutchby served as an Investment Banking generalist working in the Technology, Media and Telecom (TMT) as well as the Real Estate, Gaming and Lodging groups.

Prior to attaining his MBA, Mr. Hutchby worked at Sungard Energy Systems (SES) as a Senior Consultant managing the development and deployment of complex energy commodities trading and risk analysis services.

Mr. Hutchby has a B.A. in Economics from The Johns Hopkins University and an MBA from New York University's Stern School of Business with a dual-concentration in Corporate Finance and Business Law.
